I became interested in helping people after working as an Outward Bound Instructor for 10 years. In 2001, I completed a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of MD School of Social Work. I worked as a child therapist at a domestic violence shelter for the first two years after completing social work school and earned my licensure (LCSW-C).
From 2003-2013, I worked for the University of MD School Mental Health Program as a school based therapist for inner-city youth in Baltimore. During that time I took extensive trainings from the Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy Training and Education on working with Traumatized Individuals, and completed their Level II Training program in Advanced Trauma Treatment. In 2007, I was awarded Field Instructor of the Year from the MD Chapter of National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
In 2011, I started my own private practice in Catonsville, MD. In 2015, I was trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and am currently Certified as an EMDR therapist. I continue to further my training in EMDR as I believe it can be a very effective tool in treating a number of issues. I am also very experienced with Internal Family Systems (IFS), and continue my journey in becoming more adept at using both of these approaches to therapy. In 2025, I became a certified IFS Informed Certified EMDR therapist with the Syzygy Institute and I am currently providing guiding support at Syzygy trainings for new clinicians who are learning how to integrate IFS &EMDR.
I still love the outdoors and strive to bring the healing energy of nature to many of my sessions. I have a handful of clients who prefer to walk for our sessions – which we do on the Oella Trolly Trail. I prefer to do in-person sessions with my clients, but I have a lot of clients who meet online only.
